Psalm 19:1-2
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
'Matariki is a time when people, whānau, and communities gather to remember the year that has passed, celebrate the present, and plan for the next year. ' (Te Papa Tongarewa)
Following in the footsteps of God's people all through scripture (who love a good party or festival), we're sowing seeds for an annual opportunity to pause mid-year and practice remembrance, gratitude, celebration, and look to the future together. If you’re not familiar with what Matariki is all about and how we can engage with this holiday as Christians, you might find this video helpful.
This year, we’re inviting our church family to create and participate in pockets of community and celebration all around the Coast over Matariki weekend. If you'd like to host an event, join one of the ones already booked in, or engage with some Matariki resources, click on the buttons below. It's going to be good.
